A small business may win an order that exceeds the cash available for stock, materials or direct fulfilment costs. Purchase order funding can be considered when there is an awarded transaction, a credible buyer and a practical route from supplier payment to accepted delivery.
Business size alone does not decide the outcome. The order quality, supplier evidence, delivery capability and remaining margin are central to the assessment.
For a complete and eligible application, Fund The People targets a funding turnaround within 48 hours, subject to document, buyer, supplier and transaction verification. The actual timing depends on the information required for the specific transaction.
Verify the awarded order
Confirm the buyer’s legal name, order number, specifications, value, delivery date and payment terms using an official contact. An invitation to tender, forecast or unsigned quotation is not the same as an operative purchase order.
Show supplier readiness
Provide current supplier quotations, stock or production confirmation and payment terms. Identify substitutions, minimum order quantities and quotation expiry dates. A low price has little value if the supplier cannot deliver to the required specification.
Cost the entire fulfilment
Include transport, labour, packaging, insurance, installation, quality checks and taxes alongside the goods. Compare the total cost and proposed funding charge with the order value. Keep a contingency for credible changes without hiding the true margin.
Demonstrate delivery control
Assign responsibility for procurement, inspection, logistics, buyer communication and invoicing. Use dated milestones and show what happens if a supplier is late. The funder does not replace the business’s operational responsibility to perform the contract.
Plan the buyer-payment route
Understand the acceptance documents, invoice process and expected payment run. The agreement may direct the buyer’s payment toward settlement. Confirm the exact payment instruction and communicate it through authorised channels.
